Gillian

Owner/ Operator/ Artist- 18 Years. Lic No- (to be added).

Gillian offers one-on-one, trauma-informed tattoo sessions in a calm and inclusive studio environment.

Tattoo Curiosities also functions as a small community resource hub, offering grab bags and information for LGBTQIA+ people, period poverty support, and domestic violence escape resources, as well as connections to local services for First Nations communities, diverse communities, and those needing access to housing and food support.

"I don't see myself as the boss - more the person who pays the bills, worries about things and occassionally remembers to order paper towel. I created Tattoo Curiosities as I wanted to work in a welcoming environment that accepted the quirky parts of people (myself included). I am a  "talks too much and has always lost something" person with "I want to be friends with everyone, please" giggly enthusiasm. I genuinely care about my clients.

I come from a long line of artists who are all dissapointed in me for becoming a tattoo artist.

I’m experienced in a wide range of styles — colour, neo-traditional, black and grey, fine line, ornamental work, and challenging cover-ups. I love the space where Pinterest inspiration meets classical painting, and I enjoy pushing ideas until they become something unique and personal."

Outside the studio, Gillian is known to be face painting at local events, painting musical instruments, photographing weddings, making shiny things, singly badly at karaoke and telling questionable jokes. As well as always, always drawing.

Amanda

Second Year Apprentice/ Professional Face and Body Painter. Lic No.(TBA)

Amanda is a second-year tattoo apprentice and a lifelong artist with a passion for creativity in all forms. As she continues mastering the tools and techniques of tattooing, she brings with her nearly 20 years of experience working on bodies through face and body painting, primarily at children’s events throughout the Hunter Valley and surrounding areas.

With a background in community support work assisting vulnerable people, Amanda has developed a naturally welcoming, patient, and approachable style that helps clients feel comfortable from the moment they sit in the chair. She loves creating a relaxed and fun experience while working closely with clients to bring their ideas to life.

Amanda enjoys a range of tattoo styles including black and grey work, stipple and dotwork, and bold colour pieces. Right now, she’s especially excited to take on more greywash projects and continue growing her style and skills.
